Three new models plus future introductions were among the highlights at the recently completed annual Viking Yacht Dealer Meeting, which took place at the Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City, June 24-28, 2013.
Headlining the 2014 model year are the new Viking 52 Convertible and Viking 42 SC and 42 ST. The 52 C features a newly designed resin-infused hull with a matrix of knitted fiberglass laminates, Kevlar and end grain balsa coring, along with a one-piece deckhouse assembly from the pulpit to the inner transom liner with carbon fiber in its composite structure. Powered with a pair of 1400 mhp MAN V12 CRM engines, the Viking 52 has a top speed of 42 knots and a 35-knot cruise. The three-stateroom two-head layout delivers accommodations for six, plus a spacious salon with a built-in dinette and island-style galley. Visibility from the flying bridge is excellent with ample seating for the operator and guests. The 142-square-foot cockpit showcases Viking’s signature observation mezzanine, which includes comfortable seating, a freezer, tackle stowage and engine room access.
The Viking 42 SC and 42 ST, powered with Cummins QSC 600 mhp diesels matched to articulating Zeus pod-drives, combine superb speed and handling along with single-lever and joy-stick controls. With its coupe-like fiberglass hardtop, the SC is an ideal all-weather cruising and fishing package, while the ST includes a custom-designed tuna tower from Palm Beach Towers, a subsidiary of the Viking Yacht Company. Interior accommodations are practical and plush with a master stateroom forward, a second stateroom with twin berths aft, and the galley, salon and head amidships. The command deck features a center console-style helm, and the 121-square-foot cockpit is ideal for all water sport activities.
Also announced during the meeting attended by both domestic and international dealers were updates on two more new models, the Viking 92 Convertible and the Viking 75 Motor Yacht, currently in development with their premieres set for the 2014 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
Although its debut is nearly a year-and-a-half away, the excitement about the new Viking 92 Enclosed Bridge Convertible was thunderous during the recently completed annual Viking Yacht Dealer Meeting. One look at this magnificent 238-square-foot cockpit says it all. From the flanking teak planked staircases to the upper mezzanine seating and spacious after deck to a host of additional features and amenities, including built-in livewells, freezers, tackle and gear stowage, and engine room access, this cockpit is a work of art.
