81 Teams Compete for $1.5 Million at Annual Biloxi Event; Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry Among Participants

The 2024 Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic hosted 81 teams vying for $1.5 million in cash prizes. Biloxi’s Golden Nugget Casino & Hotel graciously hosted the prestigious annual event, with many participants also winning on the gaming floor.

Louisiana Governor, Jeff Landry, successfully released a blue marlin on Day One while fishing with Team Harvey. Over the three days of competition, anglers caught 74 blue marlin, seven white marlin and four sailfish.

Tyler Massey, aboard the 44-foot Contender One More from Pensacola, Florida, caught the heaviest blue marlin of the tournament, weighing in at 670.5 pounds. A Work of Art earned Top catch and release honors with five blue marlin releases.

Team Hail Storm, driving their 47-foot Freeman from Matagorda, Texas to Biloxi, Mississippi, secured first place in the Wahoo category with a 73-pound catch.

Thousands of participants and spectators attended the MGCBC, creating lasting memories at this annual crowd favorite.
