The Montauk Canyon Challenge kicks off July 15 at Montauk Yacht Club. This casual tournament is hosted and fished by fellow captains and dock mates. The tournament is presented by Staten Island Yacht Sales.
The tournament honors Capt. Checster H. Wolfe and the fishing spirit aboard his legendary SeaWolfe. The tournament format will be one overnight or two day trips – captain’s choice.
Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded in a number of categories, including Heaviest Tuna, Heaviest Yellowfin, Top Three Yellowfin, Top Point Marlin and more. The overall winner by combined point total wil go home with the Staten Island Sales Grand Champion trophy.
Entry fee is $500 per boat with 100% of money going to tournament participants.
Anglers can also look forward to the Montauk Canyon Challenge Awards BBQ, being held Sunday, July 24 at 1:00 p.m.
