Grandmother, 85, catches 850-pound black marlin in Australia

Connie Laurie caught the fish last Wednesday near Cairns

85-year-old grandmother Connie Laurie caught and released an 850-pound black marlin off Cooktown, near Cairns last week. She was fishing aboard the Top Shot operated by Ross Finlayson Charters.

“It was just a magical sight to see this huge big fish jump out of the water,” Laurie told cairns.com.au, who reported on the catch.

Laurie dragged a 12-pound mackerel to catch the fish, and pictures of the giant black can be seen here.
