If there’s one thing the sportfishing community loves almost as much as a hot bite, it’s a little friendly competition. And that’s exactly what Marlin Madness delivers every year.
Loosely inspired by NCAA March Madness but built entirely for the big-game crowd, the 2026 edition brought together 64 of the sport’s most recognizable tournaments in a bracket-style showdown that’s equal parts pride, popularity contest and dockside banter. And while it’s all in good fun, don’t be fooled—these tournaments (and their loyal followings) come to win.
This year marked a major milestone for the program, with record-breaking participation across the board. More than 17,700 votes were cast—the highest total in Marlin Madness history—driving unprecedented traffic and engagement as past champions, crews, anglers and entire tournament networks rallied behind their favorites. Group chats lit up, social feeds turned competitive and every round brought a new wave of momentum.
When it was all said and done, Los Hermanos rose above the field to claim the 2026 Marlin Madness crown. Representing the International bracket, Los Hermanos rode a passionate global following—and the reputation of winning the El Salvador International Billfish Tournament—all the way to the top.
Standing in their way was a formidable finalist: Redemption, representing the Hatteras Village Offshore Open out of the East Coast bracket. It was a perfect championship matchup, international destination versus East Coast staple, and exactly the kind of showdown that makes this competition so entertaining.
Elsewhere, the brackets were just as competitive. Florida was claimed by Lucky Boy/Astra Sails from the Dust ‘Em Off Sailfish Warmup, while the Gulf Coast belonged to C’Mon Man of the Mobile Big Game Fishing Club’s Gulf Coast Masters. Different regions, different style, but the same passion driving every vote.
At its core, Marlin Madness isn’t about trophies or payouts. It’s about pride, community and a little friendly rivalry among the tournaments that define the sport. And as this year’s record-breaking numbers prove, what started as a fun idea has quickly evolved into a full-blown annual staple for the big-game fishing world.
