There may have been a smaller number of boats fishing Day Three and fewer vessels to the scales at Harbor Isle, but the impact on the leaderboard at the 40th Annual White Marin Open was significant.

Out of the 135 boats plying the waters offshore, team Sea Mistress with Debbie McCann as angler and Sea Toy with Larry McKinley on the rod both weighed in 77-pound white marlin to take and share the top spot — and a split purse of the $980,000 for first place — for a little while. In short order, team Kingfisher/Odinspear soon wowed the crowd and vaulted into first with its formidable 83-pound white marlin.

There were a couple changes in the dolphin division too._ Why Knot_ is now in the lead with a 34-pounder currently worth $14,000 and Billfisher grabbed the number two position with its 33-pound mahi-mahi.

This is the first day of the tournament where a tuna hasn’t made it onto the leaderboard. Mia Joes (a.k.a. MJ‘s) 248.5- and 233.5-pounder currently hold the number one and two spot, respectively.

Although the blue marlin category remains wide open, there are still two fishing days left and a lot of boats looking for their shot at that fish of a lifetime.
