Lo Que Sea Wins 2016 Custom Shootout

Grand slams pay big dividends for the top teams in the Bahamas

Capt. Kevin Paul with anglers Tony Huerta and Hans Kraaz released a grand slam on Lo Que Sea, including two white marlin, one blue marlin and one sailfish, during the first day of the Custom Shootout and never looked back. The team went on to release another two whites, a blue marlin and a sailfish over the next two days to secure their victory with 1,900 points. Lo Que Sea is a 58-foot Paul Mann.

Hot on their heels was the crew aboard Two Cats, a 60-foot Spencer with Capt. Nate Benz, Doug Fabick, Jim McGrath and Mark Donahue. They also scored bonus points from a Day One grand slam and tallied a total of two blue marlin, three sailfish and four whites for the tournament. They finished a close second at 1,850 points.

Capt. Ed Dwyer and Bear Trap rallied for third place, releasing five white marlin the first day of fishing and five more on the third and final day for a total of 1,650 points. This year, the 54 teams fishing the Custom Shootout released 34 blue marlin, 110 white marlin and 32 sailfish in three days of fishing.
