Competitive anglers from around the country will join together for another historic event in Key Largo, Florida, as the 2019 Jimmy Johnson Quest for the Ring tournament gets underway next month. Renowned for the finest parties and the highest purse, tournament highlights include a celebrity charity day and super-competitive showdowns. The two-day prize structure is set with a guaranteed purse, offering the 2019 winners a chance to win one or more of 60 payouts, and the final entry opportunity will be end at the captains meeting on Wednesday, March 6, should any spots still be available.
Jimmy Johnson’s Quest for the Ring Championship Fishing Week is “all about the ring,” says Coach Johnson. Participating teams will vie for the highly coveted Ring of Honor — Johnson’s famed National Championship Ring — and past winners who have taken home the top prize in the past include: Hardway, 4 Aces, Weez In the Keys, Liquid, Rock Star, Astra Sails and the newest member, Sandman.
Over 800 people attended the 2018 awards party at the Big Chill in Key Largo and the tournament steadily continues to grow each year. Johnson says, “I am thrilled to have our partners at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood join us as we showcase the thrilling challenge of sportfishing. We look forward to seeing everyone in March!”
Jimmy Johnson’s Big Chill Restaurant is located at mile marker 104 in Key Largo and hosts the week-long festivities. Guest accommodations can be made at Marriott Key Largo and Ocean Reef Club, among other locations. The kick-off event takes place on Saturday, March 2, at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, where anglers will be decked head to toe with over $5,000 worth of gear at the Gifting Experience before heading out to the poolside celebration.
The Celebrity Pro-Am will take place on Thursday, March 7 by invitation, and the billfish competition will follow on Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9, 2019.
