Williamson Raku Jig
More and more anglers are stopping off on a nice piece of bottom and doing a jig — butterfly jigging, that is. Williamson Lures recently offered up a new twist on the butterfly jig with its Raku Jig line. These flat-on-one-side jigs come with an extra octopus skirt to provide additional action.
Ranging in size from 2.5 to 7.5 ounces, the Raku Jig sinks fast and catches everything: small snappers, kingfish, giant groupers and tunas. They’re perfect for drifting. Unlike most butterfly-style jigs, the Raku doesn’t have to be worked until your arms fall off. The extra skirt provides plenty of action, either just dead-stick drifting or with a slow pumping motion of the rod. Raku means “easy” in Japanese, and these jigs certainly deliver on their name.
