The Skins Marlin Derby

Dates: July 10 – 13, 2026

Patterned after the classic Skins Game PGA golf tournament, the Skins Marlin Derby’s base purse is available each fishing day to the largest marlin weighing 500 pounds or more. If no one catches marlin of that size, the day’s purse rolls over and is added to the next day’s purse. Additional jackpots are available for tagged marlin.

Friday, July 10
(in conjunction w/the Kona Throw Down Awards Ceremony)
4 PM: Skins Marlin Derby Registration Opens at Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club
5 PM: Live Music, Party, and Dinner at Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club
6:30 PM – Previous Tournament’s Awards Presentation & Raffle Drawings
7:15 PM – Kona Throw Down Captain’s Meeting

Saturday 7/11, Sunday 7/12, & Monday 7/13
6:30-7 AM: Visual check out North Side of Fuel Dock
7 AM: Shotgun Start
4 PM: Lines Out
6 PM: All boats inside Honokohau Marina
6:30 PM: Deadline for release video submissions (see below for exceptions)

Monday, July 13
5 PM: Live Music, Party, and Dinner at Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club
7 PM – Awards Presentation & Raffle Drawings
