Hawaii Lure Maker’s Challenge

Hawaii is the birthplace of the modern trolling lure, so it is befitting that the sport’s best craftsman put their pride and their products to test each year in the Lure Maker’s Challenge. In this one-of-a-kind event, lure makers come from around the globe, and while teams compete against each other, they work together to decide which lure brand is the most productive amongst the fleet, to determine the top Lure Maker. In addition to bragging rights, the winning Lure Maker will also receive a trophy, a marketing package in Marlin Magazine, and sponsor rights for the following year’s tournament. Koya Lures was the top Lure Maker of 2026, making them the presenting sponsors of the 2027 Lure Maker’s Challenge.

All HMTS Tournaments abide by the International Game Fish Association’s International Angling Rules. Additional HMTS General Rules and specific Lure Maker’s Challenge Rules also apply.
