A fleet of 17 teams aboard some of the finest fishing machines on display in Central America competed in a one-day ladies’ tournament to kick off the 2020 tournament season at Los Sueños Resort and Marina in Playa Herradura. Morgasm released the first sailfish to start the competition, which is a precursor to the prestigious and world-renowned Triple Crown Series.

While the bite averaged over four billfish per team, the 72-foot Merritt Sea Angel came out on top, with a total score of 2,400 points for releasing four sails and four marlin. Laura Jessen and Michelle Keeney, fishing aboard 2019’s winner, Fish Tank, placed second, with a final score of 1,700 points for releasing seven sailfish, and one blue and one striped marlin, including a grand slam for owner/angler Jessen. The Spencer Yacht Max Bet finished in third place, with a total of 1,100 points, releasing six sailfish and one marlin.
