Growing up in eastern North Carolina, Tim Winters always had a strong passion for boats and fishing, which eventually grew into Winter Custom Yachts, one of the fastest growing boatbuilding operations in the Southeast. The hulls are cold-molded, with multiple layers of plywood encapsulated in fiberglass or Kevlar; the bulkheads and decks are composite core infused with epoxy and fiberglass.
That’s the case with Uptight, a beautiful 46-foot walkaround with a beam of 14 feet, 2 inches and a draft of 38 inches. The walkaround design lends itself to not only function—anglers can maneuver a fish all the way around the boat—but safety as well. Crewmembers and family remain inside the boat rather than having to transit a slippery deck to access the bow. Among her features are a pair of Caterpillar C12.9 engines rated at 1,000 hp each, producing a cruising speed of 34 knots and a top end of 42 knots. At the helm there are a pair of 19-inch multifunction displays, with another full electronics suite in the tower. A 17kW Northern Lights genset supplies power away from the dock, and a custom removable livewell setup is perfect for live-baiting South Florida sailfish.
A truly custom boutique builder, Tim Winters builds his boats with an uncompromising eye, using only the best materials and craftsmanship.
