It has been 25 years since light-tackle angling legend Raleigh Werking set the men’s 4-pound-test line-class world record for Pacific sailfish with this 141.5‑pound fish. He was fishing out of Tropic Star Lodge in Piñas Bay, Panama, on December 27, 1992, and needed less than 10 minutes to bring the fish to leader after it ate the strip bait he had pitched to the teased-up sail. Sadly, Werking died on October 10, 2017, though his legacy will live on through his legions of friends around the world.
