A group of respected charter captains from St. Thomas recently reached out to us at Marlin, asking if we could help spread the word about the upcoming memorial service for their good friend and colleague, Capt. Billy Borer. Of course, we were more than happy to do so. Billy’s adventurous spirit and larger-than-life personality left a mark on everyone lucky enough to know him. From his early days in Newport to his travels around the world with the El Zoro operation, Billy was the kind of captain who inspired others just by doing what he loved. We’re honored to pass along this information to anyone who would like to celebrate his life and legacy.

A memorial for Captain Billy Borer will be held on June 14, 2025. His ashes will be spread at the North Drop, followed by a gathering at the Virgin Islands Gamefish Club for cocktails, food, storytelling, and remembrance. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to The Billfish Foundation’s Marlin Tagging Program. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Glenn Helton at [email protected].
