The 11th annual Cajun Canyons Billfish Classic had a 46-boat fleet chasing a total purse of $593,100 in Venice, Louisiana.
Relentless Pursuit’s__ _Dale Artigue caught the first place blue marlin, weighing 508.1 pounds and winning them $97,875. Ransom Pipe, fishing aboard _Pipe Dream__ _with his dad Randy Pipes, weighed a 454.7-pound blue marlin that won them second place and $11,475. The third place blue marlin went to Dr. Chris Cenac’s 421-pound fish aboard _Rising Sons, paying them $17,820.
Relentless Pursuit _also won the release division with four blue marlin releases, all caught by Dale Artigue (total of five blue marlin for the tournament), and winning $83,250. Second place in the release division went to the crew aboard _Chasin Tail, releasing three blue marlin and edging out Born2Run based on time, and winning $49,950. Born2Run took home third place with three blue marlin releases, winning $33,300.
_Relentless Pursuit _now sits in first place of the The Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship Series as a result of their first place finishes in both the blue marlin and release divisions.
