Visions of Granders: Swinging into Fall

The late summer big-fish season arrives in Kona, Hawaii

As summer gives way to fall, the big blue marlin are starting to appear in Kona, Hawaii. Captains Chris Donato and Joe Byrum, fishing on the 37-foot Merritt, Benchmark, go on the hunt for bigger quarry in this episode of Visions of Granders. In a single day, they jump off a small fish, release a small blue and, right at the end of the day, release one they estimated at over 500 pounds, right out in front of the harbor as they’re preparing to call it a day. Just goes to show that anything can happen in Hawaii.
