49 years viking
April 1 marks the 49th anniversary of the Viking Yacht Company. It was on this day in 1964 when Bill and Bob Healey took over Peterson-Viking, a struggling boat builder from Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, moved it to New Gretna on the Bass River and began the transformation that made history in the marine industry.
Today, Viking is the world’s largest and most successful manufacturer of luxurious, high-performance convertible sport-fishing yachts. Congratulations to the Healey family for its vision and support to Viking shipwrights past and present who embraced the Healey philosophy, guidance and commitment to build a better boat every day.
