The Chesapeake Bay Wine Classic Foundation‘s 12th Annual Wine, Women & Fishing (WWF) fundraising event goes underway August 16 -17 at Southside Marina in Virginia Beach, Va. On August 17, women from throughout the area will come together for a fishing tournament to raise funds for breast cancer research at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS). Since its inception, WWF has generated more than $300,000 for EVMS.
“We are honored to contribute to research at EVMS in hopes that one day we will find a cure for breast cancer,” said Linda Church, WWF committee chair. “Wine, Women & Fishing is an event that we look forward to each year and great opportunity to unite and support a worthwhile cause.
Registration is $800 per team for up to six lady anglers on a boat. Each team receives an invitation to the registration party on August 16, six tickets to the all-inclusive awards banquet and a goody bag and t-shirt for each angler. On August 17, fishing will be followed by a dock party featuring wine tastings, a silent auction, handcrafted goods by local artisans and new this year, a bourbon tasting. The evening will conclude with an awards dinner and a performance by Guava Jam.
