Starting on Dec. 5, the Islamorada Sailfish Tournament, which is also the first leg of the renowned triple-crown Florida Keys Gold Cup Sailfish Championship series, kicks off for the 50th time. The rules of this prestigious event place a strong emphasis on conservation and sportsmanship, and it is the only event in the triple-crown series that offers a junior division. In addition, the event is the main fundraiser for the Islamorada Charter Boat Association.

Registration for the all-release boat event begins at 5 p.m. on Dec. 5 in the main dining room at Whale Harbor Inn. After registration, tournament attendees are invited to an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet followed by a rules meeting.

The fishing schedule for the event is: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 and 7, and 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 8.
