The Hawaiian Billfish Series brings an entirely new and innovative level to tournament fishing for billfish and pelagic game fish in the waters off the Big Island. You can be part of the inaugural event in the prestigious big-game tournament series that is designed to equal both the high level of quality of captains/crews, and to the extraordinary fishing off Kona. Come fish the first event in the series, the Kona Shootout, Aug 3rd – Aug 6th. It will consistent of three full fishing days commencing at the world famous Sam Choy’s restaurant with the registration and captain /crew- team/angler dinner.
The series will offer a prestigious level of entertainment and events that are only typically experienced in the mega yacht owner’s circles, and that the State of Hawaii does not typically experience from tournament events in some time. Additionally the entire series will be offered and encouraged to all types of participants, from novice fishing teams to the experienced globetrotting IGFA anglers/ teams with a wide variety of participants rarely seen in fishing tournament events.
The Hawaiian Billfish Series- Kona Shootout has partnered with The OFFSHORE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP as a qualifying event for the largest offshore fishing tournament series in the world. No other tournament series or championship event gains as much international coverage or hits the sport’s elite participants like the Offshore World Championship
The Hawaiian Billfish Series is scheduled to coincide with the high season of big game fishing in the State of Hawaii, and will seek Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna (Ahi), Wahoo (Ono) and Mahi Mahi.
THE HBS goal is being developed to offer a world class event on and off the water for all involved and their families.
