Readers of Marlin and InTheBite may have already noticed a familiar name appearing with increasing frequency across both brands.

Over the past several months, Elliott Stark has been working alongside The Marlin Group editorial team, contributing stories, ideas and industry perspective across print, digital and multimedia platforms. Now, his role as associate editor of both Marlin and InTheBite is reflected on the masthead of the latest issues of each publication.

Based in Morehead City, North Carolina, Stark brings a wide-ranging background in sportfishing media, conservation and the marine industry to the position. He will continue working closely with The Marlin Group editorial team on feature development, digital coverage and multimedia projects while helping expand the brands’ coverage of the people, boats, destinations and fisheries that define the global big-game community.

“Elliott brings a rare combination of editorial experience, industry knowledge and a true passion for the sport,” says David Ritchie, CEO of The Marlin Group. “From his time leading InTheBite to his work across conservation and major outdoor brands, he understands this space from every angle. We’re excited to have him back in the fold and contributing in an expanded role across both brands.”

For many longtime InTheBite readers, Stark needs little introduction.

He previously served as editor of InTheBite, where he helped shape the publication’s voice and developed strong relationships throughout the captain, crew and sportfishing communities. His career has also included work with The Billfish Foundation, where he contributed to conservation initiatives and communications, and Bass Pro Shops, where he served as director of conservation and brand communications.

Stark also spent time running a mothership-based marlin fishing lodge in Panama’s Pearl Islands, an experience that placed him directly in the day-to-day world of traveling anglers, crews and destination sportfishing operations.

A Texas native, Stark holds a master’s degree in marine policy from the University of Miami. He is also the author of The Book on Travel Fishing and the founder of Fish Travel Eat, through which his fishing and storytelling have taken him to destinations around the world.

“I’m incredibly excited to join The Marlin Group and contribute to two brands that have played such a significant role in my career,” Stark says. “Marlin and InTheBite represent the very best of our sport, from the anglers and captains to the places and stories that define big-game fishing. I’m looking forward to helping tell those stories and continuing to grow both platforms.”

With Stark already active across both titles, readers can expect to see plenty more from him in the months ahead, from long-form storytelling and industry coverage to destination fishing, conservation and the personalities that make the sport what it is.
