Open Fly, the new 50-footer from Maverick Yachts in Los Sueños, Costa Rica, recently made the trip from the Maverick Yachts facility to the marina down the two-lane highway that links the shop to the resort. The new 50 is the bigger brother to the 43-footers which Maverick has built in recent years. The boat is constructed from laurel blanco, a local Costa Rican wood, and will feature toe rails and trim of solid mahogany to give the boat a beautiful finish. Open Fly is powered by a pair of 1,000 hp Caterpillar C12.9 engines and will feature a Seakeeper as well as roomy accommodations below, including a master stateroom and two bunk rooms. Maverick expects the boat to be ready for charters by late July.
