In 1974, this 8mm film was professionally shot of Capt. Peter B. Wright and Charles Perry fishing along the Great Barrier Reef.

Capt. Wright was operating the boat Hooker, Charles Perry was wiring and Philip Wright was the gaff/tag man.

“We were fishing somewhere between Linden Bank and Lizard Island,” Perry says. “The fish that put on the best show was estimated to be around 800-pounds.”

The beast that jumps last in the film was estimated to be a 1,070-pounds.

“We are the last of the fish assassins,” Perry says, “and thank God, there’s not much demand for us anymore.”
