Twenty-six years ago, Pamela Basco — a past recipient of the International Game Fish Association’s Bob Herder Light Tackle Award — set the women’s 20-pound-test line-class world record for yellowfin tuna with this impressive 203-pound, 8-ounce fish.
Basco caught the big tuna on July 16, 1992, while fishing out of Kona, Hawaii, aboard Northern Lights, captained at the time by Kelley Everette.
She battled the tuna for more than three hours after it ate her slow-trolled live bait. This world record is just one of 14 that Basco has earned throughout her angling career.
