Maintenance and a paying charter for Donato and company

Making the best of his downtime during the shutdown, Benchmark’s Capt. Chris Donato goes through the importance of having a tight bonding system on any marlin-fishing game boat. He suspected he was having issues with his 37-foot Merritt, as the bites were farther from the transom than usual.

A day of maintenance resolved the issue, as the next trip with his wife and infant daughter produced a flat line blue marlin. The following day was Donato’s first charter since the pandemic, where a group of nurses released a nice blue as well.
