While Hurricane Matthew put a damper on the third and final day of the 2016 International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition and Conference in Tampa, Florida, there’s no doubt that the show was a resounding success. The event attracted over 6,000 industry professionals during the first two and a half days, before the event was shortened from Matthew’s approach along the East Coast of Florida. A total of 556 companies showcased the latest in marine innovation.

“A record-breaking 750 marine professionals kicked off the event at the Industry Breakfast,” said Anne Dunbar, show director of IBEX. “The two floors of the trade show were buzzing throughout the first two days, with hundreds of new products and technologies being introduced. There was definitely a sense of excitement and enthusiasm throughout the industry.”

The increased use of the available dock space outside the Tampa Convention Center was one of the highlights from the IBEX show. Many companies used this display to their advantage, showcasing their products aboard boats in a way that individuals could be see and experience the new products in real-world situations. In addition to the exhibitors’ displays, the show also hosted the IBEX Seminar Series, which offered technical education on things like fundamental skills and advanced training on cutting-edge technology.
