Anglers arrive at Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) in Quito and are transported to EB Hotel Quito for check-in. Depending on arrival time, lunch/dinner is at the group’s leisure, either at the hotel or at one of the local restaurants found in Quito.
Anglers are transported to Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) for flights to San Cristóbal Island. The director will contact you to recommend flights from Quito to San Cristóbal well before the trip to be sure we arrive together. Once arrived at San Cristóbal Airport (SCY), we will be transported to Casa Oputia, a boutique hotel located on the waterfront in the heart of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. We will be hosted each night by our guide, Javier Guevara, while in the Galápagos to experience the culture and cuisine.
Welcome to the most exciting bite in sport fishing! Our instructors will meet every angler at their skill level. Want to try catching a stripey on fly? We are totally down! We are targeting marlin, but dorado, tuna, and wahoo also call the Galápagos Islands home. A light breakfast is served at the hotel; lunch, snacks and drinks are served on board. The last day of fishing will include a one-day shootout where you put your skills to the test. Who doesn’t love some good competition?
The boats will be treating us to a private tour around the islands, making stops at some of the best points of interest in the Galápagos for nature encounters. From blue- and red-footed boobies to marine iguanas and rays, turtles, sea lions, and sharks, this excursion will no doubt be one of the trip’s highlights. Nowhere else in the world will you observe the diversity of marine life found in the Galápagos, and we are excited to be experiencing it with you. Lunch, snacks and drinks are served on board. We suggest bringing your snorkeling gear with you.
After breakfast, we will be transported to San Cristóbal Airport (SCY) for our return flight to Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) in Quito. Depending on your flight times, an overnight stay may be required on this leg, so please consider this when researching flights back to your destination. The director will advise on flights from San Cristóbal back to Quito well before the trip to be sure we are all on the same flight.
Located 600 miles off the Ecuadorian coastline of South America, the Galápagos Islands are the gems of the eastern Pacific Ocean. While the islands are located near the equator, the cool ocean currents attract a steady stream of predators, specifically striped marlin. All Pacific marlin species can be found in these islands depending on the time of year, but we are putting you there at the height of stripey season. These fish are big, with some approaching the 200- and 300-pound mark.
We’ll be fishing on two custom-built boats outfitted with talented captains, friendly mates, and the finest fishing equipment. Whether you’re looking to pitch-bait these fish on conventional gear or want to try your luck at catching one on fly, then the Galápagos is the place to do it!
Lunch and snacks are served on board to keep you nourished for battle, and your instructors are there to give angling support and advice, get you started pitching to billfish, or assist you in catching one on fly.
Reward yourself with an unforgettable journey to the islands that inspired British naturalist Charles Darwin’s 19th-century theory of evolution. The striped marlin season exists year-round in the Galápagos, peaking between January and June. Only six spots are available for this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
The 38-foot Mantarraya 1 and 36-foot Don Wacho are specialized for this striped marlin fishery. Both with huge cockpits and fishing platforms, comfortable cabins, all the necessary emergency equipment, and Zodiacs for snorkeling and tour excursions.
Situated on the oceanfront in San Cristóbal, Casa Opuntia puts you steps from Playa de Oro and just minutes from the island’s best restaurants, shops, and excursions.
This boutique hotel offers laid-back comfort and panoramic sea views, along with a private outdoor pool and a friendly, bilingual staff. Casa Opuntia embraces sustainable hospitality, creating the perfect place to unwind after fishing all day.
