Megadock Billfishing Tournament Falls to Hammer Time

A wide-open sailfish bite heats up the celebrated South Carolina event

Steve Mozeley’s Hammer Time made the most of a great sailfish bite off South Carolina to win first place in the Megadock Billfishing Tournament, held in Charleston June 29 through July 2, 2016. The team released eight sails on their second day of fishing and wrapped up the tournament with a total of 10 sailfish released. Hammer Time is captained by Austin Eubank.

The early tournament leader, Electric Bill, landed in second place. Owned and captained by Chad Sanders, Electric Bill had three sailfish and one blue marlin released in two days of fishing. Take Five, owned by Van Narron and captained by Teak Bell, finished third with six sailfish releases. Chandler Griffin, fishing aboard Gryphon, was the top youth angler with four sailfish releases while Susannah Nelson on Artemis was the top lady angler with three sailfish releases. The 28 teams collectively released 78 billfish in two days: 71 sailfish, six blue marlin and one white marlin.

In the overall standings for the 2016 South Carolina Governor’s Cup, Sportin’ Life leads the series with 3,275 points. Electric Bill is in second place with 2,275 points and Rascal is currently third with 2,075 points. Hammer Time‘s win put them in fourth place with 2,025 points and Game On rounds out the top five with 1,703 points.
