Two Black Marlin Releases off Australia Caught on Video

The Great Barrier Reef produces excellent fishing

Adib Barsoum sent two videos to Marlin of he and his son, Mark Barsoum, fighting and releasing two black marlin off Australia. The pair and the rest of the crew were fishing near Opal Reef, off Cairns. Mark, 58, tagged and released a 300-pounder at the beginning of the video. Adib got on the rod and fought the second black marlin, which was filmed from the fighting chair.

The pair were fishing with Capt. Ashley Wallis on the Kalira, a 54-foot Maritimo 500 built in Brisbane, Australia, and owned by Kalira Charters out of Cairns. The crew hooked four blacks in their five days of fishing off Australia, a country well-known for its black marlin fishing. The 300-pound fish Mark released was the largest of the four, although black marlin can top 1,000 pounds in this area.
