The West Coast Fishing Club to Host “Expedition Marlin”‘

The destination fishing experience is taking place at the Island of Coiba, Panama in May 2012

Vancouver, BC — the West Coast Fishing Club’s inaugural Expedition Marlin launches in May 2012. The event, drawing fishermen from around the world, is a remote Black Marlin fishing adventure utilizing the West Coast Fishing Club’s 165’ mothership and top of the line gameboats. The Billfish Foundation will be on site to help with tag and release and record data.

The Coiba region of Panama—composed of Hannibal Bank and the islands of Coiba, Montuosa and Jicaron—is an incredible destination, renown for exceptional black marlin and yellowfin tuna fisheries. The West Coast Fishing Club’s 165’ mothership will be moored on the doorstep of the fishing grounds, offering guests almost effortless access to the fishing areas with minimal runs. For this northern Panama Expedition Marlin, join the West Coast Fishing Club in live baiting big black marlin a technique that can be as explosive as productive. The West Coast Fishing Club offshore fleet consists of two 40’ Gamefisherman and two 37’ Strike Yachts with expert Captains and mates and top of the line equipment. For the past year, the West Coast Fishing Club’s Panama operation has honed its skill catching black and blue marlin out of Punta Coco in the Perlas Islands. The Panama team has seen many fish upwards of 500 pounds, with a recent guest successfully releasing an 800 pound black marlin, close to West Coast Fishing Club Mothership’s current Gulf of Panama location.

Running from April 25th to May 30th, Expedition Marlin will grant anglers access to some of the best fishing grounds on the coast, with first class logistics, services and boats creating the most exclusive and remote destination fishing experience in Panama. With a conservation theme, Expedition Marlin will amplify the profile of sport fishing and advance the sustainable use of marine resources in Panama. The Billfish Foundation will be in attendance to provide context on the importance of tagging as well as presentations for ongoing research initiatives and areas of focus. All billfish will be released and recorded in The Billfish Foundation’s database.
