On a recent trip to fish the White Marlin Open, we were docked next to the lethal crew on Big Oh. (Our first-day strategy was to make sure we fished the same water as these multiple winners!) As the Big Oh crew made preparations to start the event, we witnessed a pretty cool way to get the line off a set of rods. The crew positioned all of the gear in the fighting-chair holders and across the back of the rocket launcher and then threaded all the lines through a single point - the stainless-steel handle on the their fish box. They then took up a handful of line and dumped all of the reels at once - brilliant!
If you don't have a spot close to the chair where you can run the lines, you can fill a five-gallon bucket with water and put a carabiner on the handle or get fancy like I did and put a glass eye and a carabiner on a bungee cord. You can attach this rig to a dock piling, a cleat or just about anything and dump away!
