The Buff performance headgear is one of the best accessories to hit the protective clothing market in years. This garment goes a long way toward protecting your neck and face from the ravaging effects of sun while fishing offshore. When this tube of fabric is pulled up high and properly tucked under the bottom edge of your sunglasses, it leaves a bare minimum of delicate skin exposed.
The only trouble I find with it is that when I pull it all the way up, the full coverage often causes my sunglasses to fog with every breath.
One quick remedy I found is to make your own exhale vent with a cigarette lighter and a bait needle. Mark out a 3-inch area and loosely stretch out the fabric. Heat the tip of the needle until it glows red with the lighter, and start poking the fabric in a tight pattern. The high heat melts a hole and seals the edges at the same time, preventing the fabric from unraveling. (Did I mention to make sure that you remove the Buff from your face first?)
Just line the vented area up with the front when you slip it over your head, and you'll be well protected and fog free. Your dermatologist will be proud.
