Intellian
Intellian
Intellian s6HD is a digital marine satellite antenna system specially designed for the DIRECTV services for all types of vessels (anchored or in transit) to automatically identify, track and capture satellite signals from the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB: the international standard for digital TV transmissions) compatible satellites.

Intellian s6HD is a dual-band 2-axis marine satellite antenna system which is capable of receiving 3 DIRECTV satellite signals simultaneously. Receiving signals from one DIRECTV 101°W Ku-band satellite and two DIRECTV 99°W and DIRECTV 103°W Ka-band satellites at the same time, you can simultaneously watch all DIRECTV channels no matter which satellite your target program is coming from. This also enables the channel guide data to remain constantly up to date.

Using a simple connection to the antenna, the Intellian s6HD with a Single Wiring Multi-switch (SWM) enables 16 receivers to view all DIRECTV channels with the possibility to upgrade to 32 SWM Receivers or DVRs. The s6HD is also compatible with general Ku-band receivers such as DISH Network, Bell TV and DIRECTV local channel programming services. Read more »

As Capt. Peter B. Wright said to me this morning, the Lauderdale show is misnamed… it should be the Fort Lauderdale Ship Show. I have never seen more mega-yachts in any single place at one time! Those of us more interested in fishing vessels will appreciate several new hulls introduced just today. Read More

FLIBS is the acronym for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.First of all, that is a terrible misnomer.  The most attention getting of the vessels are not boats. (“Boats” by definition are smaller vessels that can be carried aboard ships.) The gigantic floating palaces are ships, that their owners, brokers and crew refer to as mega-yachts and are beyond any reasonable definition of boat. Read More

Sitting here in the Marlin booth waiting for our 30th Anniversary party to start. …. I feel a rum front coming. Unfortunately, our AC unit just crapped the bed, so we might have to endure some heat for the party – no worries; we still have ice. Read More

There’s nothing better than a typical 85-degree, 85-percent humidity South Florida day. It must be time for the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. I’ve actually lost count of how many I’ve been to. It’s well over 20, probably closer to 30, jeez. This is my first, however, as an editor with Marlin Magazine. The response as we walk around the show in our Marlin shirts and name badges is pretty amazing. The reaction by our readers is cult-like, a true testament to the team I joined, and that was in place long before I arrived. Read More
