Miami, Florida, hosted the Sailfish 400, the second leg of the popular Quest for the Crest Sailfish Series, January 11 to 15, 2017. And while the fishing was slow by local standards, the participating fleet made the best of each bite, knowing a successful release could mean the difference in tens of thousands of dollars of prize money.

Peter Adrian’s 4 Aces had a big day on the first day of the event, releasing eight sailfish aboard their 45-foot SeaHunter center console, powered by quad Yamaha outboards and captained by Joe Turner. With just one release on the second day of the tournament at 8:47 a.m., the team would be left sweating bullets throughout the day but their lead would be insurmountable in the end. Four of those releases were by Peter’s son Christian Adrian, who was the event’s top angler. They took home $50,000 for first place along with over $180,000 in calcutta jackpots.

The O.C.D. team placed second aboard their Viking yacht with seven sailfish releases by anglers John Harris, Carlos Carbonelo, CeCe Imbrie and Suzanne Adams, worth $18,000. Top Gun/No Limits finished in third place with six sailfish releases by Albert Miranda, Carlos Martinez, Daniel Perez (three on Day One and three on Day Two). De-bait-able and Double Diamond/Saltwater Brewery were fourth and fifth respectively, each with six releases. Only the time of last release separated third through eighth place. Stephanie Choate was the top lady angler with four sailfish releases on Miss Britt. For the tournament, there were 130 sailfish releases by 46 participating boats.
