Fishing Papua New Guinea's Pandy River, Kazuhiro Uyama, of Toyko, Japan, guided by Jacob Kankia, landed a Papuan black snapper, (Lutjanus goldiei) on June 4. Caught on a Rapala Skeeter Popper the fish weighed 10.05 kg (22 lb 2 oz) on 24 kg (50 lb) class line. The current IGFA record for the species is 12 lb 8 oz caught on the Fly River of West Province Papua New Guinea two years ago.
