One of the most exciting billfish to catch is an Atlantic blue marlin (Makaira nigricans) and to do it on fly is more thrilling. Culebra, Puerto Rican angler Bonnie M. Anderson, was fishing off Casa del Carpo, in the Dominican Republic, April 4, when she caught the 68.49kg (151 lb 0 oz) blue on 8 kg (16 lb) tippet. Guided by Bruno Larcia, Ms. Anderson used a popper fly and took 25 minutes to fight the fish. The women's tippet class record is currently vacant.
