Team KIKAO under its Team Captain, Mr. Diego Cabrera of Anzoátegui State won the first edition of the Internacional Invitacional Club De Pesca Anzoategui, held in Lecheria, Anzoátegui State, Venezuela last Oct 17th -19th.

14 boats with 42 anglers from different countries came from all over, including the U.S.A., Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Curacao and Venezuela. The teams cruised for 2 days.

Anzoátegui’s waters raised 186 fish (180 sails / 6 blues) for a great weekend of fishing and fun. In total, only 19 fish were released on 20-pound mono and exclusively non-offset circle hooks. Since the tournament featured a “Double Rotation” fishing system (2 members of same team will fish in different boats both days / never together or in their team boat) and due to the fact that the invited foreign anglers were inserted into local teams of 2 anglers, this gave KIKAO the edge to count with veteran angler William “Bill” Gavit from Texas.

Gavit formed part of the team together with Raul Ruiz (overall individual winner) and Miguel Echeverria, both of Anzoátegui’s state. Despite the large amount of bites, the hookup ratio was inconsistent with previous seasons, which probably has to do with large amounts of bait in the area and a recent earthquake in the vicinity.

The KIKAO team is qualified to participate in next scheduled OWC tournament 2014.
