The countdown begins until the return of the Offshore World Championship (OWC) to the prolific waters of Quepos, Costa Rica coming April 12-17, 2015. Last year’s competition broke the record for the most billfish ever released in a tournament, with 2,735 billfish returning to the blue waters.

The quaint fishing town of Quepos and newly built Marina Pez Vela proved once again that the world-class tournament could host great crews and boats that came from all over Costa Rica to fish the event. The community worked hard to put anglers in the action, and the upcoming tourney will be just as exciting.

Last year, the fleet of 64 international teams with fishermen from 24 countries experienced one of the most epic sailfish bites in sport fishing history. Doubles, triples and quads came to the boats with surprising regularity and the teams learned the meaning of a hot bite.

Situated at the edge of a tropical rain forest, the luxurious Parador Resort and Spa plays its part in the tournament as well, once again hosting the OWC in 2015. The resort has earned a number of prestigious awards, not only for their world-class service and amenities, but also for their passionate commitment to both the environment and the local community. Built high above the sweeping Pacific coastline on Punta Quepos, Costa Rica, the resort covers 12 acres of rainforest and contains several hiking trails on the property.

You won’t believe it until you see it! Check out the tournament video documenting last year’s awesome bite, and the amazing performances of tournament anglers and crews at http://www.offshoreworldchampionship.com/video-gallery.
