Take Me Fishing launches 'Boat Ramps' app
Fri, Jul 02, 2010

ALEXANDRIA, VA – To help boaters and anglers find boat ramps right in the palm of their hand, the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) today announced the launch of the Take Me Fishing 'Boat Ramps' application for iPhone and Droid phones. The free app, which is available in the Apple iTunes store and in the Droid Marketplace, features more than 35,000 boat ramps across the country.

"We're pleased to offer the Boat Ramps app for boaters and anglers on the go," said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. "It's all about convenience, and RBFF is committed to delivering information to visitors when they want it and how they want it."

Boat Ramps from Take Me Fishing has an easy-to-use interface, providing users with a list of ramps close to their current location by zip code or city. The app also provides users with driving directions. In the first week of release, Boat Ramps was downloaded more than 2,600 times.

"The Boat Ramps app is just one of many ways we're using new technology to engage boaters and anglers and inspire them to get out on the water," added Peterson. "We're continuing to increase our social media presence and developing a mobile-friendly website that we'll launch later this year."

Take Me Fishing, the boating and fishing communities' award-winning national campaign, helps boaters and anglers of all ages and experience levels learn, plan and equip for a day on the water. The campaign website, TakeMeFishing.org, features tips and how-to's that can be used all over the country, tools to compare different styles of boats, information on how to get a fishing license and an interactive state-by-state map that allows visitors to find the perfect local boating and fishing spot.
