Albemarle acquires Carolina Classic Boats

Albemarle and Carolina Classic will remain two independent brands with separate dealer networks

North Carolina businessman and owner of Albemarle Boats, Scott McLaughlin, has acquired Carolina Classic Boats. Albemarle and Carolina Classic will unite under one umbrella to become the premier builder of Sportfishing boats ranging in size from 24 to 41 feet.

McLaughlin states "over the past two and a half years, Albemarle and Carolina Classic have developed a healthy working relationship and we came to realize that the two companies have a lot more in common than they have differences. In this economy it made perfect sense to consolidate under one ownership, share our expertise and resources, and ultimately make both companies and their product lines stronger."

Albemarle and Carolina Classic will remain two independent brands with separate dealer networks. Burch Perry will oversee both operations. The grandson of Albemarle founder Scott Harrell, Perry, has been at the helm of Albemarle Boats since early 2007. "We are extremely excited to unite with Carolina Classic" he states "Mac Privott, his family, and his entire staff are talented boat builders and we welcome them to our team. We see this as an incredible opportunity with a multitude of benefits for both organizations."

Mac Privott founded Carolina Classic in 1993, and with his wife and two sons, has grown the company into a leader in the Sportfishing industry. He and his family will remain at Carolina Classic. Privott was quick to praise McLaughlin and Albemarle Boats "As I got to know Scott and the vision that he had for Albemarle Boats, I quickly realized that his ideas about how we could work together would preserve Carolina Classic and allow us to be stronger in the future. By sharing our best practices, utilizing both facilities, and strengthening our buying power, we will be able to provide a better product for our customers."

Located in Edenton, NC, both Albemarle Boats and Carolina Classic Boats are highly regarded builders of offshore sportfishing boats with more than 30 dealer locations throughout the United States, Europe and Japan.  For further information visit Albemarle Boats on the Internet at www.albemarleboats.com  and Carolina Classic at www.carolinaclassicboats.com
