Kristal XL-Series Electric Reels have earned a reputation for reliability unmatched in the industry. These incredibly strong reels are manufactured using the finest marine grade aluminum, stainless steel and composite materials. The low-amp-draw motors are efficient, quiet, extremely powerful and capable of retrieving up to 360 feet of line per minute. Even the largest fish are no match for their incredible lifting power, up to 1000-lbs in the XL-655, and the motor and electrical components are sealed to provide years of dependable service. Already the first choice of serious deep drop fishermen, the new Kristal digital series offers all these benefits with the addition of a multi-function, programmable control panel that is as sophisticated as the reel is strong.
Mounted atop the reel for easy viewing and access the control panel features a large LCD display and four buttons that are used for all programming and reel functions. The internal computer is a highly accurate line counter that is user-programmed for the pound test of the line and the amount of line on the spool. A sensor in the spool assembly counts the revolutions while the computer uses a formula that automatically adjusts the amount of line released or retrieved based on how much is on the spool at any given time. When set to Auto Retrieve the control panel will display the amount of line out, the RPM of the spool, and the average speed of retrieval. You can program the Auto-Stop function to halt the retrieve at a desired point. There is even an "Automatic Line Loading" feature which allows you to set how much line you want on the reel when initially filling an empty spool.
In Jigging Mode the reel offers an unprecedented choice of 16 preprogrammed jigging patterns that can be accessed by scrolling through a simple menu using a single button on the control panel. You can even set the unit to integrate the Auto Stop and Jigging Mode to work lures at various depths.
For simple drop and retrieve fishing you can override the control panel and operate the motor manually using the two toggle switches, continuous up and intermittent up, common to all XL reels.
The Kristal XL-D reels have the same proven belt drive and lever drag systems as the other XL-Series reels. The belt drive provides smooth, powerful operation under all loads while the preset lever drag is your insurance against a big fish breaking off. An optional level wind unit is available and you can choose from 12 or 24 volt motors.
The digital control package is available on four new rod mounted models including the XL-638 D kite reel, the compact XL-605 D, the midsize XL-611 D and the powerhouse XL-655 D, the most powerful rod-mounted electric reel on the market today.
