No More Background Noise

After months of testing, Westinghouse Electric Corporation has introduced ClearSpeech noise cancellation technology for its Wavetalk marine satellite telephone system. The new technology removes vessel engine noise from speech transmission.
"Boaters consistently have trouble being heard above engine and background noise when talking from an on-board telephone," says Dave Salemi, satellite product manager for Westinghouse. "ClearSpeech significantly reduces or, in some cases, totally eliminates this noise even when the engines are operating at full throttle."
Westinghouse's Wavetalk system provides boaters in North and Central America (along with Hawaii and the Caribbean) private, direct-dial digital communications in voice, fax and data, without the bulky antennas used in some satellite systems. ClearSpeech works only with the Wavetalk system.
