Hand-Held Power

The powerful IC-M1 back-up radio may prove just as helpful as a lifeboat or PFD.

It's always a good idea to carry a backup radio any time you're heading out to sea. It's not a good practice, however, to scrimp on the quality of your backup - you may have to call on it to save your life. Icom America's IC-M1 hand-held is built to withstand the rigors found in any emergency situation.
A 5-watt output transceiver, the IC-M1 comes preprogrammed with every U.S., Canadian and international marine VHF channel. It offers automatic weather alert during standby or while scanning, plus instant single-keystroke access to channel 16 and calling channel 9. For secure communications, an optional voice scrambler is available - and for foreign operation, the IC-M1 can also accommodate an automatic transmitter identification chip set.
The unit can also be charged off a 12-volt system, and several charging options include a desktop charger that can restore the battery to full power in less than 90 minutes. The IC-M1's most remarkable feature is its size: only 2 inches by 5 inches by 1 inch.
