Drifting and chunking the deep canyons in the Northeast United States at night, some 60 to 80 miles offshore, can reward anglers with a healthy box full of tuna. But on some nights, the fish just don't seem to respond to the chum. On these slower nights, quite a few boats have started trolling, and it has proven to be an extremely successful alternative.

Tournament Cable, which always has an eye on Northeast tactics, developed the Night Stalker series of terminal tackle to support the intrepid night troller.

The line consists of small- to medium-size Titanium Splash/Chains that are easy to handle in the dark. These chains work great for all species of tuna and even swordfish. All of the Night Stalker series of Splash/Chains come rigged with 9-inch Nite Glow squid, which offer a thicker body and a softer texture that predators like to hang on to. Daisy chains come with the 13-inch squid.

Both the 18- and 24-inch Splash/Chains troll easily on 30- to 50-pound tackle.
