With the Wide Range and Super Chugger models of Softheads, Mold Craft already makes two of the most popular lures on the market. A few years back, the company came out with the Four-Eyed Monster, which quickly became the teaser of choice for Capt. Ron Hamlin down in Guatemala. Another captain, Karl Anderson, began pulling the Monster as his bridge teaser on the Briar Patch and really liked the lure's action. But since he was spending a lot of time in Madeira and other big-fish locations, he wanted one with a little more girth.
 
Anderson contacted Frank Johnson at Mold Craft, and together they came up with a supersized version of the Four-Eyed Monster called the Briar Patch. With a 7-inch-long head and 9-inch skirt, the Briar Patch throws an impressive silhouette. And with a 2 7/8-inch diameter, the large, flat face of the Briar Patch creates quite a splash on the surface.
