If you fish for blue marlin on the East Coast, then you've probably at one time or another pulled a blue-and-white Ilander and ballyhoo combo. Still called the Hawaiian Eye by many, this lure/bait combo remains the favorite of crews from New Jersey to Florida - and you shouldn't be surprised to see it creep up into the spread no matter where you're fishing in the world. Recently, Iland Lures came out with a new series of Ilanders called the Flasher Series, with mylar added to the lures' skirts. Today, the company has upped the ante, creating a Flasher Series in custom colors.

Measuring 8 1/2 inches long and weighing 2 1/2 ounces, Ilanders are sized just right to increase the profile and durability of your ballyhoo baits. Add to the equation a durable nylon skirt and the addition of custom mylar colors, and you might not reach for the blue-and-white every time. The mylar skirts come in plum, black, pink and blue.
