Atlantic blue and white marlin now fall under the (mis)management of ICCAT.

Despite the fish's popularity, knowledge of the dolphin fishery is sparse and management almost nonexistent.
There seems to be a general belief among sport anglers that some government agency is looking after the health of our marine resources. Think again. If there were, almost 50 percent of U.S. fishery stocks would not be overfished or severely depleted, with the status of even more fisheries unknown for lack of data. Seventy percent of the world's marine fisheries wouldn't be overexploited, depleted or being fully utilized.
