As always, we are pleased to present the newest, most exciting pieces in marine art. Each year, the number of gifted marine artists grows, making it extremely difficult for our panel of art directors and editors to choose the final pieces that appear in Marlin's annual Art Gallery. This year proved no different as we received over 75 pieces of original art, including sculptures, paintings, jewelry and carvings from 31 artists — a new record.

Some of the artists are immediately recognizable, but many up-and-comers and first-time gallery finalists may surprise you with their eye for detail, vibrant colors, subject matter and medium. The world of marine art continues to grow, and it's a privilege to provide you with a small glimpse of what's out there.

In the end, our judges passed on numerous pieces of impressive original artwork because of space constraints, but all are worthy of consideration.

Pick up the December-January 2004 issue of Marlin to see who we selected for our magazine; click the photo gallery to see a sample from each of the artists who submitted — and enjoy.
